WHAT IS TEACHLEY?
Teachley is an award-winning educational technology company founded by expert teachers with PhDs in cognitive science and funded by the U.S. Department of Education and National Science Foundation. Teachley’s mission is to transform teaching and learning by using app data to help teachers differentiate instruction and target interventions. Based on cognitive science research, Teachley’s apps focus on teaching important strategies shown to improve learning within fun and engaging games. Watch this short video to learn more.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Teachley's EDU apps and partner apps automatically sync with your premium account. Be sure to log into the Teachley Connect app on each classroom device. When students open the app, they find their profile and start playing. Teachers can access in-depth data reporting, intervention support, and instructional resources and lesson plans by visiting their teacher dashboard on the Teachley Connect app or at www.teachley.com.
WHAT TEACHLEY APPS ARE AVAILABLE?
Teachley currently has 12 apps that sync with the platform. Teachley has developed 6 apps covering K-5 operations and fractions and also has 6 partner apps. Read the blog post for a complete list of apps and links to download here.
I SEE TWO VERSIONS OF TEACHLEY'S APPS ON THE APP STORE. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
Teachley's EDU apps are designed for schools and work with a premium Teachley subscription. They sync with Teachley Connect to provide a seamless login and app management experience. Teachers can easily monitor student progress and access intervention support and instructional resources (e.g., lesson plans, instructional videos, etc.). The non-EDU versions are for home use and do not have classroom functionality or data reporting.
HOW DO I MONITOR STUDENTS' PERFORMANCE?
Log into your dashboard within the Teachley Connect app or at www.teachley.com and go to "Reporting" and "Who's Playing" to monitor progress.
DOES TEACHLEY REQUIRE WIFI TO PLAY?
You need wifi to login to the Teachley Connect app and for the student chooser to work. However, once a student starts playing, it is okay if wifi is lost. The app will sync with our backend the next time the device connects to wifi and update your dashboard.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO USE TEACHLEY IN MY CLASSROOM?
There are many ways to use Teachley with your class. Teachers use the apps during center time, in small groups, projected onto Apple TVs or via Elmos, or for extra practice at the end of a math lesson.
DOES MY SCHOOL NEED AN IPAD FOR EACH STUDENT TO USE TEACHLEY?
No! Teachley works with ALL iPad programs, including 1:1 classrooms, center models, and shared iPad carts. Children can continue playing right where they left off on any device logged into your account.
DOES TEACHLEY WORK ON CHROMEBOOKS?
Teachley is currently only for the iPad. However, there will be web versions that work on Chromebooks for fall 2018.
The PARENTS of One of my students DOn'T WANT ME TO SHARE DATA WITH ANY COMPANIES. CAN THIS CHILD STILL PLAY TEACHLEY?
Yes. You could rename the child with a number, so that Teachley does not have the student's name. Another option is for this child to play offline. There is a "play offline" link on the bottom right of the Choose Student page on each Teachley app.

MY SCHOOL DOESn't HAVE THE BUDGET TO BUY TEACHLEY. ARE THERE ANY OTHER WAYS TO PAY FOR THE PROGRAM?
Many schools use PTO/PTA funds to cover the price of Teachley. Donors Choose is another great option. There may also be small grants that you could apply for, e.g. Explore the Foundation Center for grants opportunities.
APPS DONT APPEAR TO BE WORKING CORRECTLY
1) Restart the device. Sometimes the device's memory gets overloaded and force quitting the apps does not clear the memory.
2) Make sure you are using the EDU version of the app (EDU banner on the icon).
3) Check for app updates.
4) Make sure you're connected to the internet.
PROBLEMS WITH STUDENT CHOOSER/STUDENT PROFILES ARE MIXED UP
If you're only having a problem on one iPad, try removing your class and re-logging back in to the Teachley Connect app (see pictures below). If this doesn't work, follow the 4 steps above.
THE WRONG CLASS LIST IS SHOWING UP (e.g. LAST YEAR'S STUDENTS)
Within the Teachley Connect app, remove the class and re-log back in. See "Problems with student chooser" for how to remove a class.
HOW DO I REASSIGN A 1:1 ipad TO A DIFFERENT STUDENT?
With the Teachley Connect app, Go to Menu and tap on the pencil icon in the light blue rectangle. Tap Change student. Assign device to new student. To watch a brief video on this, click here.
The SPEED ROUND IN ADDIMALS AND SUBTRACTIMALS IS TOO HARD FOR SOME STUDENTS. CAN I TURN IT OFF?
Yes. Login to your dashboard and go to App Settings. Select the students for whom you want to turn off the speed round, click Change settings, Change mode to "Tool." When students become ready for the speed round, you can change the settings back to default. Watch this video http://bit.ly/2nDMrb5.
I HAVE A NEW STUDENT FROM ANOTHER CLASS IN MY SCHOOL. HOW DO I GET HIS PROFILE ON MY CLASS LIST?
Teachley would be happy to help transfer the student's profile to you. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for help.
I HAVE BEEN USING TEACHLEY'S NON-EDU APPS IN MY CLASS AND NOW I SEE THAT I HAVE TO SWITCH OVER TO THE EDU APPS. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY STUDENTS' GAMEPLAY?
Students' gameplay will automatically transfer to the EDU apps when you login to the Teachley Connect app.
Where do I...
Add Student Photos?
Within the Teachley Connect app, tap on Menu and then My Dashboard. Touch on Manage Class. You can add photos form your camera roll or take photos on the iPad. You can also add pictures from your desktop by logging into your dashboard at www.teachley.com.
CHANGE APP SETTINGS?
Within the Teachley Connect app, tap on Menu and then My Dashboard. Touch on App Settings. Select which game you want to change the settings for and then select for which students you want to change the settings.
Find Lesson Plans?
Within the Teachley Connect app, tap on Menu and then My Dashboard. Touch on Reporting within the blue bar. There will be a tap for Lesson Plans here. For Fractions, tap on the fraction skill (e.g. 1/b, 0/b) with the Benchmark tab to view the associated lesson.
FIND INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS?
Within the Teachley Connect app, tap on Menu and then Resources to find instructional videos, handouts, extra practice problems, etc.
